Interview (Questions/Answers)

Question : Tell us a bit about you. Who is Simone Denny?

Answer : I am a vocalist from Toronto Canada. I love all fashion but I have a particular passion for vintage fashion, vintage music and house music. I've been singing since grade 6. I've been blessed to have a few international hits  as the former vocalist of Love Inc. That group spawned a few major hits. You're a Superstar and Broken Bones. I also sang the theme song to the Bravo Hit Show Queer Eye For the Straight Guy. I've been blessed to have a few awards and tours under my belt internationally. My latest project is live music with my band the Stereo Dynamite All Stars. It's a vintage 40s and 50s Rock and Soul sound. We just released  our 1st Christmas single Baby it's Christmas Bring it on Home To Me). It will be available for purchase on all digital stores and streaming services in Canada November 10th.

Question : What motivated you to become model?

Answer : I have always loved fashion. A friend of mine Canadian designer Sarah Nicol asked me to be a celebrity model for her for the Dare Yo Wear Charity event here in Toronto. I was the 1st real woman model to ever walk the runway for that event. It was such a liberating and empowering moment. Years later a few other friends in the plus size community encouraged me to audition for a Montreal Plus Fashion Week . I was chosen. Modelled again and I loved it! That's all it took. I've always been proudly Plus Size. My weight has always fluctuated over the years. I had a lot of pressure to be thin or smaller . So I've always been passionate about being beautiful at every size.

Question : What are your achievements as a plus-size model?

Answer : I'm still new in the industry. I've modelled for Toronto Plus Size Fashion Show, Montreal Plus Fashion Week and a few plus size retailers here in Canada.

Question : What are your goals in the near future?

Answer : I would love to do more print modelling and be a paid brand ambassador. My long term goal is to have my own plus clothing line.

Question : What are your impressions about Malia Indigo Corporation? And what made you join the platform?

Answer : I absolutely love Malia Indigo. I love her passion and commitment to the plus industry. I applaud this platform because it showcases models that may not have been seen before. For any agency or retailer they can find the exact woman you are looking for. It's brilliant!
